Brother Frank L. Gann

 -1993-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officers was held on December 13, 1992 and the newly installed Master discussed his plans for the year and then made the appropriate introductions. The traveling jewels were exchanged and customary presentations were made. After the ceremonies, dinner was served in the dining hall.

In January at a 3rd degree, one of the visitors was Bro. J. C. Butcher, from Sanger Lodge and it is here noted that Bro. Butcher had been a regular visitor to Clovis Lodge for a long time and that he finally became a member.

In February an objection filed against a newly elected member was resolved by a 2/3 majority vote of the Lodge. The Lodge voted to accept the member and the objection was overruled. Clovis Lodge also voted to "Masonically" adopt Red Bank Elementary School, and were going to work the parking lot detail at the schools upcoming open house. It was also decided to give Red Bank, pencil boxes that were available through the Grand Lodge of California. The adopting a public school program has grown to several schools since.

Also in February a courtesy 3rd degree was done for Fresno Lodge with their officers present. In March it was announced that Clovis Lodge would have a float in the Rodeo Parade being held in April.

In May a 50 year-pin presentation was made to Bro. Frank Carl Wanic, and the Lodge voted to get air conditioning for downstairs in the dining hall. Yahoo!!!! Finally my kind of thinking...hehehe. Also a "Kids Day at the Zoo" was mentioned and was to be sponsored by Clovis , Fresno and Las Palmas Lodges. All Lodges of the district worked closely together on several functions during the year. The main one was providing Kids a Day at the Zoo for free. This was held in conjunction with our District Picnic.

At June's stated meeting there was a flurry of activity. There was mention of having the letter G in the east repaired, the air conditioning contractor had been hired, the Junior Warden resigned, and there was mention of obtaining a wheel chair ramp for the back door. We somehow magically became part of the 293rd Masonic District and Bro. Ralph T. Enloe Jr. PM of Clovis Lodge was the Inspector.

In August it was announced that the "Kids Day at the Zoo" event had gone over very well and that a description of the event had been sent to the California Freemason Magazine for publication. Also in a call for the relief from flooding, a $45.00 donation was made to the Masonic Service Bureau to be used for that purpose.

In September we had the first mention of Bro. Robert T. Lewis Jr., Master and Past Master of Kaweah Lodge 665, who was a visitor in Clovis Lodge. In October the framed copy of the Lodge charter was mentioned and Master Frank Gann thanked Senior Warden Doug Cairns PM for framing it. Also there was another resignation from a Junior Warden, and a report from the float committee about being ready for the winter parade.

1993 was the second year in a row that the Master of Clovis Lodge 417 was called upon to raise Grand Lodge at its Annual Communications.

In November the annual elections of officers was held and the reason it is noted is that this was the first time it was held in November, 1993 was the first year Clovis Lodge 417 earned the Grand Masters Achievement Award.

It was reported the the food drive and Christmas parade had both done very well. And the Junior Warden elect informed the Lodge that he must resign.

Brethren lost in this year were Bro's. Charles Lee Baker, Elbert Edwin Brown, Horace A. Bryars, Charles Emery Collins Jr., Elmer Leonard Cox Jr., James Floyd Foster, James Jesse Fraser, Leo Raymond Garey, George Monroe Landers, George Makel, Ralph Lewis Mann, Torrance Carson O'Dell, Hugh Thomas Parks, Charles Kenneth Peterson Sr., Woodrow Wilson Sansom Sr., Lester Conrad Scheidt and Siffroy Eugene Thomas.
